Job Description: Catering Coordinator

 

About Us
Christmas Day at the Greeno is a small, community-focused charity dedicated to providing a full Christmas Day programme at the Greeno Centre including a full three course lunch with presents and gifts for those in Shepperton and surrounding area. (We are independent of the Greeno Centre.)
We rely on a small team of trustees and volunteers to organise the event, source all goods and services, and help out on Christmas Day.

 

Role Purpose

The catering coordinator is responsible for the meal on Christmas Day: sourcing ingredients, the food preparation and cooking and serving up of the food. This includes food for volunteers as well as guests.


Key Responsibilities
●    Attend team leader meetings.
●    Agree the menu with trustees before guest letters are sent out
●    Liaise with guest coordinator to get numbers for each dish
●    Source all food and ingredients required, whether donated by supporters or bought 
●    Ensure at least two of the kitchen team have a food hygiene certificate
●    Arrange the team for food preparation on Christmas Eve, including the cooking of the turkey crowns
●    Manage the kitchen team on Christmas Day ensuring the food is ready to be served on time and in accordance with food hygiene regulations
●    Ensure food for volunteers is put out in a timely manner
●    Ensure kitchen is left in the same condition as before we took over

 

Person Specification
We are looking for people who:
●    Are willing to devote the necessary time and effort (mostly November and December, total approx 10 hours)
●    Are well organised and are confident in cooking for large numbers of guests.
●    Preferably has experience of working in a large kitchen (no formal qualifications are necessary).
